Important note - There is no association between Sykes Anderson LLP and the Olympic/Paralympic Games or the Olympic/Paralympic movement and nothing on this website should be construed to suggest the same.

London's Olympics provide many commercial and tax opportunities. These include the sale of merchandise and services, specific "Olympic" exemptions from UK taxation and property investment. Whilst major international companies have exclusive rights to certain aspects through sponsorship deals there is no shortage of ways for others with an entrepreneurial outlook to benefit. We also act for sports people and their agents. Please click on the links below for more information

  • International Olympic Committees - London 2012 is an opportunity to showcase your country as well as an opportunity for your fans to meet at your “fan park”. If you do this you will be involved in leases of premises and contracts with UK suppliers and sponsors. We can help you with the legal aspects of this.

  • Tax exemptions - the UK has passed specific laws exempting non-UK resident competitors, team members and media workers from tax during the Olympics.

  • Property Investment in London - the Olympics are being held in east London where regeneration is taking place, however other areas will benefit as well.

  • Disputes - litigation relating to sporting matters as well as sponsorship and branding.

  • Merchandise and services - with millions of extra visitors coming to London demand for tourism services such as catering will receive a boost. The leasing of commercial premises, not only at sports venues, but at train stations and other places with large numbers of visitors en route will become more attractive.

  • Accommodation - if you are going to rent a house or apartment for the games it is best to carry out some basic checks and get a signed lease. Be careful about paying over money in advance.

  • Immigration - we can assist with difficulties in obtaining a visa to enter the UK for the Games.
