PRIVATE JET PURCHASE

Private Jet Law

Private Jet Solicitors

Buying a private jet is no longer simply the acquisition of a plaything; it is becoming more necessity for the high networth entrepreneur or individual.  Whilst chartering is an option, there is an increasing preference for purchase.  Private jets are now comparatively more affordable and with demand levels high, a good jet will retain its value on the resale market.

The process can be complicated both legally and financially.  There are a lot of pitfalls for the unwary and time, trouble and money can be saved by obtaining good advice.  It is a major purchase and the same high level of due diligence should be undertaken just as if a small to medium size business was being acquired.

Our private jet legal and tax service is intended to take the strain away from the client.  It is provided as part of our UK and international service to high networth entrepreneurs and individuals.

Key aspects are:-

  • Comprehensive.  We deal with all aspects of the purchase from the initial contract, ownership and tax structure, advice on the country of ownership and registration through to legal issues on the use of the aircraft and its chartering, if appropriate.
  • Tax Effective Structure.  We look to set up a structure which is tailor made to suit your needs.  It can be either simple or more complex and innovative.  The aim is to save you money whilst not losing sight of the practical and commercial necessities relating to the use of the aircraft.
  • Corporate Structure.  As part of the tax and ownership planning, we deal with the setting up of the corporate structure(s).
  • Contractual Advice.  Advising on key elements of the purchase contract to protect your position e.g. to make sure that good title to the aircraft is obtained, that payment provisions are satisfactory and that where it is a new jet that there are adequate rights to inspect/test it and a right to assign the contract to a special purpose company.
  • Working with Others.  We work as a team with other people involved in the process, such as the jet broker, the finance company, the insurer and any existing professional advisers.
